Expanse – Development Update 1

In this post we will update you on what the development of Expanse has looked like since we announced the project almost two months ago. The post will be about news, what is happening right now and what will happen to the server in the future.

NPCs
NPCs have recently received several underlying updates that increase stability and usability. You can also change the skin of an NPC in real time and equip them with items, which further increases the possibilities of the system.

Expansions
Worlds can now expand automatically based on playtime. This is something that members of the world can disable. The world can expand a little provided that some member is in the world. In addition to the automatic expansion, players can now expand the world with 10, 20, 30 or 50 blocks at a time, but at a cost in form of ingame money and items. This is something that will be game tested to find a balance between cost and expansion, with the goal that it should not be too fast or too slow.

Nether, The End and Wipes
At the moment, neither Nether nor The End need expansions, however, there is a fixed world border on 5000 for The End and 8000 for Nether. These numbers will also be adjusted and players will have the opportunity to ask staff for an extension if needed. There is now also support to individually reset The End or Nether, maximum 1 time per 15 days. A player can only create a whole new world once a month.

In conjunction with 1.16 then the world border in Nether will be adapted so that you can discover the whole update without restriction. We are also looking at different solutions to give players the opportunity to choose biome when creating a new world, but this is something that needs the new features that come with 1.16.

Items
A number of clan-related items have been removed as the focus will not be on PvP at the moment. The tokens will be completely redone and switch from physical items to a menu where you can see how many you have purchased. Other than that, many of the items still belong to dungeons and lootboxes.

Shop
The shop has been moved over and will be redone to match the new prices and items needed..

Rifts
Rifts 2.0 are currently in the design phase and the plan is to make them a global event that can be accessed from the spawn world. Rewards will depend on the number of players.

Menus
The menus have received several improvements and have full support for creating worlds, visiting worlds, invite players, save, turn PvP on and off, expand, wipe:and Nether also The End, as well as removing the world.

Game tests
We have had a number of closed game tests and more will come. Apply for Staff to access the closed alpha.
